About

Thanks very much for checking out my blog!

My name is Amanda. I have been  living in Vancouver for many years.  I was born in Hong Kong, so I am able to speak fluent Cantonese and read Chinese.  But writing is totally different story…. Well many thanks Google Translate, I can finally “write” some Chinese ;-)

I have an unique mix of interest: developing software (also happen to be my day job) and baking all kind of cakes, bread and cookies from around the world.  I find the careful review of recipes and detail “baking resource” planning is oddly similar to detail of attention required in software development and planning.

Whenever I save up enough vacation time, I love travelling around the world with my bright orange backpack, trusty Canon DC, baby size laptop and my old worn out paper travel journal.

You may wonder what does ATB  stands for?   People work in software development loves acronym.  During a dinner party, some one joking about a term ATB.  When I asked what does  that stand for, he told me  “Amanda the Brilliant”.   I really like that term and have been using ever since, but after reading my blog posts you probably think it is more fitting as  “Amanda the (mad) Baker” ;-)

Hope you enjoy reading this blog!  P.S. Don’t read this blog with empty stomach, it will make you feel very hungry!!
